Excerpts of a climbers life
“Against my better judgment I struggled on through deep snow towards the bergschrund. Standing on top of the lower lip I could just reach beyond it and attach an icescrew in the overhanging ice. Looking further up I could hardly see anything but a mix of white clouds, ice and snow, and some faint darker shadows that could be rocks. Where they moving? They might as well be ancient dragons crawling over the ridge, denying me access to the summit, once again.”
